The 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam slopestyle and halfpipe finals both went down today under sunny skies at Mammoth Mountain in California and Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) has been officially declared the women’s Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champion for the 2009/2010 season. Sina Candrian (SUI) was able to post a sixth place finish in the slopestyle finals to defend her World No. 2 position and Sarka Pancochova (CZE) squeezed in a fifth place in slopestyle to finish her season in World No. 3. All three of the women mentioned above will go home with some hefty prize money and will also receive automatic invites to all major TTR events for the 2010/2011 season.

With men's TTR World Champion crowned, all eyes are on the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam taking place at Mammoth Mountain, California from March 26th to March 27th, 2010. This is the last major Swatch TTR Tour stop for the women and will be the event that will decide who claims the women’s 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champion title. After some amazing weather and top-notch riding at the US Open last weekend there were drastic changes in the TTR ranking that has setup opportunities for a few women to take the TTR Champion title and one of the Top 3 finalist positions. Riders from around the globe are currently making the trek to Stratton, Vermont for the men’s last 6Star event of the 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour season. The 6Star Burton US Open is set to take hold of Stratton Mountain Resort all next week with slopestyle finals scheduled for Friday, March 19th and halfpipe finals set for Saturday, March 20th. This gives the men two opportunities to obtain good results and improve their TTR ranking score for a chance to finish in the coveted TTR Top 5. For the women, the US Open offers the chance for riders to secure a good position in the rankings before moving on to the women’s season finale, the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam. There are a host of cash and titles up for grabs at the US Open including the men’s portion of the TTR prize purse worth a total of $200,000 USD that will be handed out at the TTR Awards Ceremony following halfpipe finals which will also see the official crowning of the 09/10 Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champion Peetu Piiroinen.

The snow and the fog didn’t get the best of the very motivated snowboarders in the finals of the NESCAFE CHAMPS 2010 in Leysin. The Frenchman, Johann Baisamy wins this edition and Patrick Burgener finishes in second place, only a point away from the top spot on the podium. Maxence Tevelle (FRA), takes 3rd place. Jan Scherrer, surprisingly strong in yesterday’s qualifications, finishes a respectable 4th place.

One of the most impressive snowboard athletes in the world today, Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), reconfirmed his reputation with a first place finish at the coveted 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge. The thousands of fans at Tryvann Vinterpark in Oslo, Norway witnessed a piece of snowboarding history as 21-year old Peetu Piiroinen took first place in today’s slopestyle competition, and with an additional 1000 TTR ranking points on his account, he took an unassailable lead in the TTR World Rankings. A wrap up of the fantastic 2010 Skullcandy Sista Sessions, a Swatch TTR 3Star all womens snowboarding event in the Vans Penken Park in Mayrhofen, Austria. In one action-packed day the participants could join in on various activities: beginner lessons, small jam sessions and photo shoots, while the main focus was on the 3Star Swatch TTR Slopestyle competition. It was a perfect sunny day for The Protest World Rookie Fest finals at the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark. The riding level was high and kids coming from all around the world confirmed that the progression of snowboarding is happening. Diana Augustinova and Sebbe De Buck are the winners of the Groms and Katarzyna Rusin and Roope Tonteri the winners of the rookie’s categories. The girls, despite being less than boys impressed the judges and the boys too! Girls showed their skills on the M course of the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark, while boys where attacking the L and XL lines. The winning girls of the Groms category are: Diana Augustinova(CZE), Maria Delfina Maiocco (IT) and Noemi Valloray (IT). In the rookie’s category Katarzyna Rusin (POL) take the lead of Nora Thompson (NOR) who took second place, and Marika Enne (FIN) who finished in third place. In the boys’ field the Groms podium goes to Seppe De Buck (BEL) (run : 50-50 180out, switch backside 540, frontside 720 e backside 720), Seamus O’Connor (USA) as second place and Lucas Baume (SUI) third place. On the rookie’s side first place goes to Roope Tonteri (FIN) who secured the victory with a sick run that started off with 50-50 backflip out, cab900, backside900 and cab1080. Brage B Richenberg (NOR) got second place and Niklas Mattsson (SWE) third place.
